Marianna Angel (*1992) is a Colombian-Swiss musician, composer, and improviser based in Basel. With a background in classical piano, her artistic practice spans contemporary composition, experimental sound, and popular music. She is committed to interdisciplinary and collaborative work, often engaging with visual arts, literature, and performance.
Angel is a founding member of the duo SOLAND ANGEL, which regularly performs in contemporary art spaces across Europe. In addition to her performance practice, she composes for theater productions, ensembles, and audiovisual media.
She was awarded a working grant for improvisation by kulturelles.bl in 2022, and in 2024 received a six-month residency at the Cité des Arts in Paris through Atelier Mondial. During her time in Paris, she released her debut EP, Rotten Flowers, Shiny Shoes, on SAIS Records in collaboration with local and international artists.
Angel frequently collaborates with writers and artists such as Olga Hohmann and Michelle Steinbeck, and her work has been presented at institutions including the Fondation Beyeler, Kunsthalle Basel, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien, Helmhaus Zürich and the Centre Culturel Suisse in Paris.
